Overview of the Role

The Accountant role is part of the Accounting Operation team. The Accountant plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial records are maintained while supporting the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager in day-to-day accounting operations. This position involves performing essential tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset management, tax compliance, and assisting with month-end close activities. The accountant ensures adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

General Ledger / Entity Accounting

  • Post journal entries accurately and ensure proper documentation.
  • Manage intercompany accounting processes and reconciliations.
  • Oversee accruals and prepayments management to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations to maintain integrity of accounts.
  • Maintain the local entity chart of accounts and structure for consistency and compliance.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
  • Monitor headcount-related costs and bonus allocations.
  • Handle month-end revenue recognition and oversee period-end close activities.

Management Accounting / Reporting

  • Track cost allocations and operational metrics to support business decision-making.
  • Produce detailed management reports that provide insights into financial performance.
  • Resolve issues or errors in management reporting promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of accurate reports.

Statutory Reporting

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate external audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Assist with internal audit preparation to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure bank compliance requirements are met consistently.
  • Manage annual and periodic filings, including ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) information input and insurance data submissions.

Cash & Bank Management

  • Oversee cashflow management to ensure liquidity for operational needs.
  • Manage banking relationships and monitor account activity regularly.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
  • Process payments efficiently while adhering to internal controls.

Tax Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including tax return filings.
  • Process corporation tax calculations accurately and on time.
  • Handle payroll tax processing in collaboration with HR teams.
  • Ensure withholding tax compliance for relevant transactions.
  • Coordinate tax audits by preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors.

Property Management

  • Manage property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, and lease agreements.
  • Perform lease accounting in line with applicable standards.

Service Management

  • Drive process improvements across accounting functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct business analysis to identify opportunities for optimization within workflows.
  • Collaborate with Global Business Services (GBS) teams to align processes across entities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Prepare reports or reconciliations for review by senior team members during month-end close activities.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role preferred.
  • Proven experience in general ledger accounting, management reporting, statutory reporting, cash management, tax compliance, property management, or service/process improvement roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Workday, Power BI) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
