Senior Accounting Lead

A leading remote accounting firm is seeking a Senior Accounting Lead to join their supportive and knowledgeable team.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Accounting Lead, you will be entrusted with overseeing the entire accounting lifecycle for a portfolio of small business clients.

• Own the complete general ledger process for multiple small business clients of varying complexity, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
• Execute month-end close procedures in accordance with established firm standard operating procedures, reviewing and signing off on financial statements for basic clients.
• Handle fixed asset schedules independently, including preparing interest and depreciation journal entries as well as loan tie outs.
• Identify inconsistencies or anomalies in client books by exercising independent accounting judgement to determine appropriate next steps for resolution.
• Lead new client cleanups by resolving accounting software integration issues, mapping accounts, cleaning up charts of accounts, and conducting rule audits.
• Provide technical guidance to junior accountants based on firm standards and assist with training on advanced topics as your expertise develops.
• Support technical project work alongside partners, contributing to complex bookkeeping cleanups and tax planning strategies.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Accounting Lead role brings extensive experience managing full-cycle accounting processes for small or medium-sized U.S. businesses.

• 4-6+ years of full-cycle accounting experience with proven ownership of a complete general ledger beyond basic bank feeds or AP/AR functions.
• Possess 2-3 years of daily hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online for U.S.-based businesses rather than just holding an online certification.
• Comfortable navigating third-party integrations with QuickBooks Online including invoicing platforms, payroll systems, banks, and field service management software.
• Demonstrate confidence in handling technical aspects like fixed asset schedules, loan tie outs, interest calculations, depreciation journal entries, and complex reconciliations.
