Finance Manager
A leading organization in Makati is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the daily operations of its accounting department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. What you'll do:
As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department’s daily operations while ensuring compliance with both local and regional finance policies. Your day-to-day activities will involve supervising accounting staff, managing financial closings at various intervals, acting as a liaison for regional controlling matters, supporting planning and budgeting efforts, reviewing monthly accounts for performance analysis, assisting with internal audits and special projects related to taxation, resolving regulatory inquiries efficiently, and participating in strategic workstreams such as M&A or project financing.
- Supervise and manage accounting staff by delegating tasks effectively and reviewing their work to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Conduct periodic reviews of transaction expenditures to confirm that spending aligns with approved budgets and complies with local and regional finance policies before payment processing.
- Take responsibility for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closings for assigned projects or entities, including thorough tax review processes.
- Provide comprehensive documentation for bank and government-related compliance reporting requirements.
- Recommend new accounting or tax processes and procedures by analyzing current practices and updating relevant process documents as necessary.
- Support additional value-added activities that enhance operational and departmental excellence while fostering teamwork between all functions and teams.
- Assist in various workstreams related to mergers & acquisitions, project financing, due diligence, and other strategic initiatives as required.
- Initiate and drive process improvement within the function without compromising efficiency or internal controls.
- Co-manage outsourced service providers and consultants who deliver essential services to the business.
- Act as a key point of contact for regional controlling matters, ensuring effective communication across platforms.
- Support planning, budget management, forecasting, and provide financial insights to business stakeholders so they can manage platforms efficiently and profitably.
- Review, interpret, and prepare initial reports on monthly accounts, performance variances; analyze trends; investigate discrepancies; suggest corrective measures for cost management.
- Provide support with internal audits and special tax-related projects as needed.
- Assist with tax engagements ranging from simple queries to complex corporate restructuring or tax due diligence assignments.
- Help resolve discrepancies during BIR assessments or notice letters by responding promptly to regulatory agencies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the finance function.
What you bring:
To excel as Finance Manager, you will bring extensive experience from the infrastructure, energy or transportation sectors along with a solid academic foundation in accountancy. Your proven track record includes managing complex accounting operations independently while collaborating effectively within teams. Your interpersonal abilities enable you to communicate clearly with stakeholders across departments while delivering insightful analyses that inform business decisions. - Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy is required; CPA qualification is preferred with a strong background in taxation considered an advantage.
- At least seven years of accounting experience within infrastructure, energy or transportation sectors is essential for understanding industry-specific challenges.
- Exceptional analytical skills combined with problem-solving capability enable you to address complex financial issues effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision demonstrates your dependability in managing critical tasks autonomously when needed.
- Proven expertise in overseeing financial systems including financial close processes, daily accounting operations, and managing deliverables from outsourced service providers ensures seamless workflow integration.
- Advanced proficiency in IFRS standards for preparing accurate financial statements and reports is crucial for maintaining compliance across multiple entities.
- Experience working with NAV, Anaplan, SharePoint or similar accounting tools supports efficient data management within the department.
- Strong communication skills allow you to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels while presenting clear financial insights.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or related applications facilitate effective analysis of data trends for reporting purposes.
