Save job

A leading global shipping and logistics organisation is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join their finance team in Pasay. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to take ownership of the tax, accounting, and banking functions across multiple entities. Reporting directly to senior management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while supporting local teams and driving group-wide projects.

What you'll do:

As Tax Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of accounting, taxation, banking operations, and compliance matters for several entities within the shipping sector. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with both local and regional finance teams to ensure seamless month-end closings, accurate financial reporting under various standards (local GAAP/IFRS), effective cash flow management, and successful budget consolidation.

  • Manage the overall general ledger accounting and tax function for shipping agencies, domestic carrier entities, carriers’ representation, and sub-agents in close collaboration with local finance teams, regional finance departments, and the Global Business Service team.
  • Supervise monthly accounting closing processes by ensuring completeness of bank reconciliations, clearance of payables and receivables, as well as proper accruals and prepayments.
  • Monitor performance measurement systems and core KPIs to ensure financial targets are met consistently across all entities.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with local GAAP, international accounting standards, and IFRS requirements for multiple business units.
  • Oversee monthly monitoring of accounts and ensure timely fund transfers to principals while maintaining robust cash flow analysis and forecasting.
  • Lead annual budgetary preparation and reporting activities by consolidating inputs from various teams and presenting comprehensive reports to management.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for statutory auditors and tax authorities to facilitate timely completion of financial reports and resolution of tax matters.
  • Coordinate cash and treasury functions including communication with bankers regarding overseas remittance requirements and currency exposure management.
  • Drive tax risk management initiatives by leading audits, reviews, planning activities, compliance efforts, and introducing best practices for tax efficiency.
  • Mentor and coach finance and admin teams to build high-performing groups capable of supporting ongoing projects, ad-hoc assignments, and continuous improvement.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Tax Manager position brings a wealth of experience from the shipping or logistics industry along with strong academic credentials such as an MBA or CPA. Your proven track record includes managing complex finance operations at a senior level—demonstrating not only technical expertise but also interpersonal sensitivity when working alongside diverse teams.

  • Degree or above in Finance, Accounting or Taxation; MBA or CPA qualification preferred
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in finance roles with at least three years in managerial positions within shipping or logistics sectors
  • Professional background in audit or consultancy is considered advantageous
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English
  • Proven project management abilities demonstrated through successful delivery of group-wide assignments involving multiple teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for effective reporting; and experience with Oracle or SAP accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in regulations or internal policies while maintaining compliance across all areas of responsibility.
  • Dependable approach towards meeting deadlines coupled with enthusiasm for continuous learning through training opportunities.
