What you'll do:

As a Regulatory Compliance Officer based in BGC, you will play an essential role in safeguarding the bank’s reputation by ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve conducting independent reviews across various departments and branches, analysing internal policies for effectiveness, advising senior management on new regulations, and supporting robust governance practices. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams to promote best practices in compliance while helping drive continuous improvement initiatives. By maintaining accurate records and preparing detailed reports for management oversight, you will contribute significantly to the organisation’s commitment to ethical conduct and regulatory excellence.

  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer in overseeing the implementation of effective compliance function controls throughout the organisation.

  • Analyse internal policies, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), providing inputs that strengthen the bank’s compliance framework and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure consistent application of compliance policies across all operational areas, promoting a culture of integrity and accountability.

  • Conduct independent testing of head office departments and branches to evaluate adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and other regulatory requirements, ensuring findings are thoroughly documented.

  • Contribute to the development of risk assessment methodologies that identify potential areas of non-compliance or vulnerability within banking operations.

  • Inform senior management of new regulations and assess their impact on business operations to facilitate timely process and practice adjustments.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of compliance activities for audit and regulatory review purposes, ensuring transparency and traceability.

  • Monitor updates from regulatory bodies and communicate relevant regulatory developments promptly to internal stakeholders.

  • Participate in and support regular training sessions aimed at enhancing staff awareness of regulatory requirements and updates.

  • Support the preparation of comprehensive compliance reports for management review, summarising monitoring activities, findings, and recommended actions.

What you bring:

To excel as a Regulatory Compliance Officer, your background should include substantial experience within banking operations coupled with proven expertise in compliance functions. Your academic qualifications will underpin your ability to navigate intricate financial regulations while your hands-on experience equips you with practical knowledge vital for effective oversight. You will bring exceptional analytical capabilities that allow you to scrutinise policies thoroughly; strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration; meticulous attention to detail; and an unwavering commitment to ethical conduct. Your ability to interpret evolving regulations ensures timely advisory support for senior management. By embracing ongoing learning opportunities provided by the organisation, you will continue developing professionally while contributing positively towards a culture built on trustworthiness and shared responsibility.

  • Ability to interpret complex regulations ensures you can provide accurate advisory services regarding new laws or changes affecting banking operations.

  • Attention to detail is crucial when conducting independent testing or preparing reports that inform strategic decision-making processes.

  • At least five years’ work experience in banking operations is essential so you can bring practical insights into how compliance functions integrate with day-to-day business activities.
