What you'll do:
As a General Accounting Specialist, you will be entrusted with responsibilities that span the full spectrum of accounting functions. Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing detailed deliverables that underpin the accuracy of the organisation’s financial statements. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from different departments to ensure seamless reconciliation of accounts, timely month-end closings, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.

Ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control policies in all accounting activities.

Monitor and reconcile fixed asset accounts, ensuring proper capitalization, depreciation, and disposal entries are accurately recorded.

Participate in accounting system implementations and enhancements by validating data accuracy and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT).

Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate and up-to-date cash records.

Prepare complete and accurate general accounting reports, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded within agreed timelines.

Provide operational accounting support related to cash management and treasury activities to help sustain healthy liquidity levels.

Reconcile subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules against consolidated financial statements, recommending adjustments where necessary.

Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax rules, and financial regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Support internal and external audit engagements by preparing required documentation and responding clearly to audit inquiries.

Take ownership of month-end closing activities, including posting journal entries, accruals, and necessary adjustments for timely period closure.
