This position plays a vital role in formulating and implementing operational strategies, optimising processes, and leading the execution of key initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the insurance industry, strong leadership skills, and a track record of successfully managing large-scale operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives
Collaborate with senior management to define and prioritise strategic initiatives
Identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and drive operational excellence across the organisation
Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to the operations team, setting clear goals and expectations
Foster a culture of high performance, teamwork, and continuous learning within the operations department
Ensure optimal staffing levels, assess training needs, and develop career growth plans for the team
Develop and implement a robust risk management framework to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary changes in operational processes and systems
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
Implement innovative solutions and technologies to streamline workflows and automate manual processes
Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to implement system enhancements and upgrades
Ensure high-quality customer service delivery and drive customer-centric initiatives
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as underwriting, claims, and marketing teams, to align operational objectives and enhance cross-functional collaboration
Act as the primary point of contact for operational issues and escalate as necessary to ensure timely resolution
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational performance
Develop and implement reporting mechanisms to provide insights and recommendations to senior management
Analyse data trends and patterns to identify opportunities for further improvement and effectiveness
To succeed in this COO role you must have a strong background in end to end insurance operations, transformation and process improvement.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field. MBA is preferred
Extensive experience (10 or more years) in insurance operations, including management positions
In-depth knowledge of insurance products, processes, and regulatory requirements
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing operational teams
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality
Proficiency in using insurance software and systems
Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in insurance operations
Understanding of risk management principles and practices
Ability to handle pressure and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Project management experience is a plus
