Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all aspects of settlements processing, ensuring timely and accurate processing of various types of transactions, including domestic and international payments, securities settlements, and treasury transactions
Develop and implement effective processes and controls to mitigate settlement-related risks and comply with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with stakeholders, such as front-office teams, back-office teams, and external parties, to resolve exceptions and issues promptly
Develop and implement a robust risk management framework for settlements, identifying and mitigating operational, regulatory, and financial risks
Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements
Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes in settlements processes and ensure timely implementation of necessary updates and enhancements
Manage and develop a team of settlements professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and continuous improvement
Set clear objectives and performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations
Identify training and development needs, and provide opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth within the team
Identify opportunities to enhance settlements processes through automation and the use of technology
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as IT and operations teams, to implement system upgrades, develop new tools, and streamline workflows
Continuously monitor industry trends and best practices to identify and implement process improvements and optimisation initiatives
Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as regulators, counterparties, and custodians
Collaborate with front-office teams to ensure seamless coordination and execution of settlements activities
Act as a point of escalation for settlements-related issues and inquiries
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate settlements operations, and provide regular reporting to senior management
Analyse data trends, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy
To succeed in this VP Settlements Head role, you must have a strong background and experience in international banks, settlements operations and process improvement.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation is preferred
Extensive experience (10 or more years) in settlements operations within the banking industry, with a thorough understanding of multiple settlements processes, including payments, securities, and treasury settlements
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to settlements operations
Demonstrated leadership skills, with prior experience in managing and developing teams
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality
Proficiency in using relevant settlements systems and tools
Understanding of risk management principles and practices
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in settlements operations
Project management experience is a plus
