A Chargeback Head in a leading bank plays a crucial role in managing the chargeback process, which involves handling disputes and reversing transactions when cardholders contest charges.

Key Requirements:

  1. Chargeback Management:
    • Oversee the entire chargeback process, ensuring timely and accurate handling of disputes.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce chargeback ratios and financial losses.
  1. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage the chargeback team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Ensure team members are up-to-date with the latest chargeback regulations and industry standards.
  1. Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure all chargeback processes comply with local and international regulations, such as those set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and card networks like Visa and MasterCard.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments in procedures.
  1. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding chargeback issues.
    • Liaise with card networks, merchants, and cardholders to resolve disputes effectively.
  1. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze chargeback data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management, providing insights and recommendations.
  1. Technology and Systems:
    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of chargeback management systems.
    • Ensure the systems are optimized for efficiency and accuracy in processing chargebacks.

To succeed in this Chargeback Head role, you must have a strong background and knowledge in Chargeback process for credit cards, stakeholder and people management.

Key Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in banking, finance, or risk management are advantageous.
    • Extensive experience in chargeback management, fraud prevention, or a related area within the banking or financial services industry.
    • Proven track record of leadership and team management.
    • Deep understanding of chargeback processes, dispute resolution, and relevant regulations.
    • Familiarity with local and international banking regulations, especially those related to electronic payments and consumer protection.
