Our client is on an exciting journey, powered by technology and steered by a team of smart, determined individuals. They are seeking a Head of Non Financial Risk to join their ranks. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with non-financial risk management policies, and applicable international regulations. You will be the second line of defence in managing non-financial risks, providing consultancy on policy implementation, and offering training for non-financial risk management. This role reports directly to the Risk Committee at a local level and to the Head of Non-Financial Risk Retail at a global level.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Non Financial Risk, you will play a crucial role in guiding the business towards compliance with ING policies and related local/international regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying risks as well as designing and implementing adequate remediation actions. You will be responsible for raising non-financial risk awareness throughout the organisation while also monitoring adherence to risk appetite. Your leadership skills will shine as you lead, coach, and guide the Non-Financial Risk team.

  • Guide and challenge business compliance with policies and regulations
  • Identify and assess risks, design and implement remediation actions
  • Raise non-financial risk awareness throughout the organisation
  • Monitor and report on adherence to risk appetite, escalating breaches where necessary
  • Coordinate the Non-financial risk committee and ensure periodic risk reporting
  • Execute 2nd Line Monitoring activities on bank-wide control frameworks
  • Provide 2nd line risk advice for key decisions related to new product approvals, change initiatives, outsourcing arrangements, significant process changes etc.
  • Oversee Issue & Event management process, ensuring timely mitigation of risk issues by the 1st line
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Risk Management governance documents and methods
  • Lead, coach and guide the Non-Financial Risk team with appropriate strategies and leadership skills

What you bring:

As the Head of Non Financial Risk, you bring a wealth of experience in risk management, particularly in non-financial risks. Your knowledge of banking business, products, processes, systems and associated laws & regulations will be invaluable in this role. You are proactive and persuasive, with excellent analytical skills and sound judgment. Your ability to multitask and solve problems effectively sets you apart. You have demonstrated experience presenting to C-Suite and Board level audiences and are an effective team leader with strong coaching, collaboration, stakeholder management and rapport building skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Law or other relevant areas (Master’s degree would be a plus)
  • +15 years of experience in risk management role, with +5 years of people management experience
  • Strong affinity with non-financial risks such as fraud, 3rd party risk management, employment practice risk etc.
  • Knowledge of Banking business, products, processes, systems and associated laws & regulations
  • Pro-activeness and persuasiveness; Good analytical skills and sound judgment;
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to C-Suite and Board level audiences
  • Possess multi-tasking abilities and strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective team leader with coaching, collaboration, stakeholder management and rapport building skills
  • Proven capability to manage change
  • Experience with international and complex organizations with an innovative perspective
