Credit Risk Officer
CREDIT RISK OFFICER
An esteemed international bank is seeking a Credit Risk Officer to join its highly regarded Risk Management Department in BGC. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality and stability of the bank’s credit portfolio by conducting thorough, independent assessments of both potential and existing corporate borrowers. You will be at the forefront of ensuring that all credit due diligence meets the highest standards, while also supporting regulatory compliance and contributing to the overall risk appetite and strategy of the branch. The organisation is committed to fostering a supportive environment where your expertise in financial analysis, sector research, and post-loan monitoring will be valued and developed. With flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and a collaborative team culture, this is an exceptional chance for you to advance your career in credit risk within a respected global institution.
* Play a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of the bank’s credit portfolio through rigorous independent assessments and reviews of corporate borrowers, ensuring robust asset quality.
* Benefit from a supportive leadership team that values knowledge sharing, professional growth, and continuous learning through structured training opportunities and exposure to complex credit scenarios.
* Enjoy flexible working arrangements and become part of an inclusive team culture that prioritises collaboration, open communication, and shared success across all levels of the organisation.
What you'll do:
As a Credit Risk Officer, you will play an integral part in safeguarding the bank’s lending activities by performing meticulous due diligence on corporate clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing detailed reports for high-level committees, reviewing financial statements with precision, validating projections, and ensuring that all aspects of credit proposals are thoroughly scrutinised. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across departments to facilitate meetings, conduct site visits when required, and support ongoing compliance checks. Your analytical skills will be essential in interpreting complex documentation and identifying potential risks while recommending practical solutions. By staying up-to-date with evolving regulatory requirements and internal policies from regional headquarters, you will help shape the branch’s approach to risk management. Your contributions will directly influence decision-making processes that underpin the bank’s reputation for prudent lending practices.
* Prepare comprehensive credit due diligence reports for corporate banking accounts, providing insightful commentary on credit proposals presented to the Credit Committee.
* Conduct independent assessments for account reviews triggered by negative news, material adverse events, thematic portfolio reviews, or as directed by management.
* Review detailed financial analyses of client accounts, validate financial spreadsheets and projections, and ensure accuracy in all submitted data.
* Evaluate frontline inputs for credit ratings, independently assess the reasonableness of rating outcomes, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
* Identify various types of risks including management ability, ownership structure, financial health, operational efficiency, industry trends, and facility structure; propose effective mitigating strategies for each identified risk.
* Analyse group or borrower credit histories using internal records and documentation to inform overall creditworthiness assessments.
* Interpret complex credit documents such as investigation reports and appraisal summaries to contribute meaningfully to collateral evaluation processes.
* Support secretarial functions for the Credit Committee by processing information in relevant systems, preparing meeting minutes, and facilitating pre-clearance meetings for new accounts or facilities.
* Participate in client or plant visits alongside Relationship Managers when necessary to gain deeper insights into business operations and risk factors.
* Conduct industry studies to inform branch risk appetite decisions and assist with drafting updated credit guidelines issued by the Risk Management Department.

* Familiarity with credit approval systems (such as CCMS) and rating tools (like CWFRA) supports efficient workflow management within the department.
* Excellent interpersonal skills enable effective collaboration with relationship managers during client visits or cross-functional projects.
