The successful candidate will have the chance to make travel arrangements for sea employees and superintendents, manage crew changes globally, and ensure crew certificates are up-to-date. What You'll Do
As a Crew Officer, your role will be pivotal in managing all fleet personnel issues. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crew onboard our client's vessels, ensuring that they are operating efficiently and effectively. Your excellent organisational skills will be put to use as you prepare crew change plans, make travel arrangements for sea employees and superintendents, and update and maintain crew personal files. Your attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring that all crew certificates comply with national regulations and company policies.
- Conduct initial interviews with job applicants and create senior briefings according to a planned schedule. Brief new team members on crew policies and procedures to ensure alignment with company standards.
- Develop and manage department policies, ensuring crew certificates are up-to-date and compliant with national regulations (STCW/Flag) and company standards.
- Handle global crew changes, ensuring they are executed in the most economical and efficient manner. Make travel arrangements for sea employees and superintendents, adhering to company policies.
- Implement and improve the safety culture throughout the fleet to achieve the company’s HSSE objectives of zero accidents/incidents. Provide guidance and support to promote a safe working environment for all crew members.
- Maintain close contact with vessels according to company standards, providing updates on crew change plans and other relevant information. Conduct business trip vessel visits during port stays in to meet and support the crew.
- Monitor crew evaluations and performance, following up with the crew manager on substandard evaluations. Manage the yearly training program and coordinate additional training as needed to ensure continuous crew development.
- Oversee all crew aspects onboard vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Manage OM matrix regulations and prepare crew change plans when vessels are not adequately staffed.
- Verify and approve disbursement accounts (DA) and crew department expenses, as well as travel expenses, in accordance with invoice approval and company policies. Systematically monitor the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within the department and fleet.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate for this Crew Officer role brings a wealth of skills to the table. Your strong communication skills will enable you to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, while your good computer skills will assist you in maintaining accurate records. . A marine background is also highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Shipping or Maritime industry, with a focus on managing tanker vessels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national regulations (STCW/Flag) and company standards relevant to crew certification and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage global crew changes efficiently and economically, adhering to company policies.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of maintaining close contact with vessels and providing updates on crew change plans.
- Experience in developing and implementing department policies, as well as ensuring the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within the department and fleet.
- Financial acumen to verify and approve disbursement accounts, crew department expenses, and travel expenses according to company policies.
- Proven expertise in overseeing crew management and operations on board tanker vessels.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to make travel arrangements for sea employees and superintendents, and manage crew personal files.
