Specializing in the management of tanker and bulk vessels, ASM Maritime operates a robust fleet of 25 tanker vessels, 15 container ships, and a carrier. ASM Maritime offers a wide range of services such as technical management, recruitment, and crew management. Working with top manning agents, they ensure the highest quality of crew members, who they consider their most valuable and essential resource.

Expanding to the Philippines, ASM Maritime is currently hiring for the roles of Ship Owners, to kickstart their operations within the region. We are seeking experienced professionals for two distinctions within roles: Crew Officer and Crew Maritime Purchaser.

What you'll do:

The Ship Owners will be the pivotal roles as an early team member to establish the operations in the Philippines based on two distinctions as Crew Officer or Maritime Purchaser.

Crew Officer:

  • Conduct initial interviews, briefings, and onboarding sessions for crew members, ensuring compliance with company policies and alignment with standards. Regularly update and manage department policies related to crew certifications (STCW/Flag).
  • Handle global crew changes efficiently, including travel arrangements for sea employees and superintendents, while promoting a strong safety culture to meet the company’s HSSE objectives.
  • Monitor and manage crew performance evaluations, training programs, and compliance with OM matrix regulations, ensuring vessels are adequately staffed and crew members are continuously developed.
  • Verify and approve expenses related to crew operations, systematically monitor verification activities within the department and fleet, and maintain close communication with vessels to support the crew.

Maritime Purchaser:

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase chemicals, provisions, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for vessels, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory, maintain data integrity in systems, and collaborate with senior purchasing officers and technical superintendents to meet vessel requirements.
  • Ensure smooth coordination with onboard management teams, providing guidance and maintaining accurate stock records for provisions and PPE.
  • Work closely with the accounting department to trace and approve invoices, ensuring adherence to financial protocols, while maintaining safe and compliant working conditions onboard and in the office.

What you bring:

To succeed in this role, you should possess either of two distinctions of the role: Crew Officer and Crew Maritime Purchaser. Candidates must have prior experience in either role within a global shipping company. Preference will be given to individuals with proven expertise in managing Tanker Vessels and Chemical Vessels.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Shipping or Maritime industry, on the related function.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and economically manage global crew changes while adhering to company policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, maintaining effective contact with vessels and providing clear updates on crew change plans.
  • Experience in developing and implementing departmental policies and ensuring the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within the department and fleet.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented mindset to ensure safety, compliance, and operational alignment across all aspects of crew management.
  • Proficiency in English is a must.
