Country Head of Compliance - Fintech & Payment
Our client is seeking a seasoned Head of Compliance to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the business operations adhere to the latest regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for staying up-to-date with compliance requirements, reviewing relevant regulations, and advising internal and external stakeholders on industry expectations. They will also develop policies, ensure business processes meet regulatory demands, review new initiatives, and oversee regulatory audits. This role is critical to safeguarding the company’s operations while supporting its growth in a dynamic, evolving industry.
What you'll do:
As the Country Head of Compliance, your role will be multifaceted. You will be expected to understand all regulations related to strategic projects and business activities. Your excellent communication skills will be put to use as you give compliance advisory for various business scopes. You will support the growth of the company by acting as a key person for experimental projects in the financial service sector. Your knowledge of KYC, CDD-EDD principles, AML/CFT enforcement, and implementation will be crucial in safeguarding the company from fraud and financial crime-related activities. Additionally, you will provide support to the litigation team on compliance matters.

Act as the key compliance advisor for strategic business areas, including Payments, Fintech, Remittance, Banking, Crypto, or Asset Provider, and other financial services.

Collaborate with business leaders to support experimental and innovative projects within the financial services sector while ensuring regulatory alignment.

Ensure full compliance with Philippine laws and regulations related to KYC, AML, and CFT by implementing and enforcing internal policies and procedures.

Guide the company in understanding and complying with all regulations impacting strategic projects and ongoing business activities.

Lead the implementation of AML/CFT principles by applying KYC, CDD, and EDD standards to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing.

Provide proactive compliance advisory across various business and industry domains to support responsible business growth.

Safeguard the company from fraud and financial crimes by identifying risks and ensuring the development of robust preventive measures.

Support the litigation and investigation processes by providing expert insights and representing the company in front of regulatory investigators when necessary.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Country Head of Compliance role brings a wealth of experience in payments and fintech. With over 10 years of experience in a senior compliance role, you have a deep understanding of compliance matters including Know-Your-Customer principles, Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence, transaction monitoring and patterns, and transaction data analysis. Your excellent communication skills allow you to build and maintain relationships effortlessly. You hold a Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Accounting or a related field. Your expert knowledge and experience in Banking, Payment, Forex, Remittance, Lending Investment, Virtual Assets or Crypto will be invaluable in this role.

10+ years of compliance experience in Payments, Fintech, Remittance, Finance, Banking, or Crypto, with a strong background in a senior compliance leadership role.

Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Accounting, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Deep understanding of compliance frameworks including Know-Your-Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring, and transaction data analysis.

Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), policy development, governance, risk assessment, and compliance testing.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.

Expert-level knowledge of industry regulations and operations in Banking, Payments, Forex, Remittance, Lending, Investments, and Virtual Assets/Crypto.

Proven ability to implement and lead compliance programs across multiple financial services domains.

Strong leadership presence and the capability to guide strategic compliance initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
