A prestigious global bank is seeking a Legal and Litigation Manager to oversee the legal affairs of its support units. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to provide expert legal guidance across a diverse range of operational activities, ensuring that all actions are compliant with current laws and regulations. You will be at the heart of managing litigation and disputes, commercial, and internal investigations.

What you'll do:

As Legal and Litigation Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with support units across the organisation to address their legal needs. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts while ensuring that all agreements are legally enforceable. Your expertise will be called upon during disciplinary proceedings or special audits where your guidance can help navigate complex regulatory environments. In addition to managing litigation cases, both internally handled and those coordinated with external counsel, you will also supervise compliance efforts related to garnishments from government agencies. Your role extends into assessing sensitive claims involving depositors’ accounts as well as acting as a trusted advisor during internal investigations. You will play an integral part in upholding high standards of compliance throughout the organisation. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also excellent interpersonal skills as you work collaboratively across departments.

  • Act as a resource person for internal investigations or administrative cases by providing legal opinions grounded in sound legal principles.

  • Assess claims involving deceased or incapacitated depositors’ accounts with sensitivity, accuracy, and attention to regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate closely with external legal counsel to ensure compliance with government regulations and reportorial obligations while maintaining effective communication for case management.

  • Deliver clear and practical legal advice to internal support units to ensure business activities align with organisational policies, applicable laws, and regulatory requirements.

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of risk and compliance within the legal function by proactively identifying legal risks and promoting adherence to compliance standards.

  • Manage internally handled legal cases, excluding those related to specific banking loan matters, overseeing processes from documentation preparation to court representation.

  • Monitor outsourced litigation cases filed by or against the organisation, ensuring timely updates and accurate reporting to relevant departments or committees.

  • Offer legal support on administrative and labour relations matters, including disciplinary proceedings, special audit investigations, and fraud risk management case preparation.

  • Provide comprehensive legal services by preparing, reviewing, and advising on agreements, contracts, and other legal documents related to operational activities.

  • Represent the organisation in litigation proceedings filed by or against it, ensuring all actions comply with organisational policies and government regulations.

  • Supervise compliance with garnishment orders issued by government agencies to safeguard the organisation’s legal and financial interests.

What you bring:

To excel as Legal and Litigation Manager, you will bring not only robust academic credentials but also substantial hands-on experience navigating complex legal landscapes. Your background includes several years spent practising law, preferably with direct involvement in litigation, where you have honed your abilities in contract preparation, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. Membership in the Integrated Bar of the Philippines underscores your dedication to ethical practice while your advanced research skills enable you to craft well-founded opinions that safeguard organisational interests. Your interpersonal strengths allow you to collaborate seamlessly across departments; whether supporting Human Capital during disciplinary actions or guiding Operations through regulatory changes. Experience handling sensitive matters such as depositor claims demonstrates your capacity for empathy, a quality highly valued within this inclusive workplace. As someone who thrives on sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues through complex challenges, you are well-positioned to contribute meaningfully both within your immediate team and across the wider organisation.

  • Be an active member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines or have successfully passed the Philippine Bar Examination, demonstrating professional qualification to practice law.

  • Bring proven experience acting as a resource person during internal investigations or administrative hearings, providing reliable legal insights and guidance.

  • Demonstrate strong legal research capabilities and the ability to draft clear, well-structured legal opinions that safeguard organisational interests.

  • Display sensitivity and sound judgement when assessing claims involving deceased or incapacitated depositors’ accounts, balancing empathy with legal accuracy.

  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with external legal counsel and collaborate across internal departments.

  • Have 3–5 years of practical legal experience with particular exposure to litigation processes within reputable law firms or corporate environments.

  • Hold a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree from a recognised institution, providing a strong foundation in Philippine legal principles.

  • Possess hands-on experience handling litigation matters as well as administrative proceedings within a corporate or institutional setting.
