Our client is seeking a Head of Commercial and Business Development to lead their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to spearhead the performance of a business unit within a rapidly growing e-commerce start-up. The successful candidate will have the chance to work closely with the Country Head, identifying opportunities, developing business strategies, and optimising internal processes. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and proven experience in building brands on e-commerce platforms.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Commercial and Business Development, you will be responsible for leading a team of brand managers and store operators in daily operations to deliver brand growth across e-commerce platforms. You will partner directly with the Country Head to identify opportunities, develop business strategies, and optimize internal processes. Your role will involve managing the overall financial performance of your business unit, analysing its performance to identify areas for improvement, developing operational process flows, training team members, building relationships with key stakeholders, leading problem-solving initiatives with external partners, identifying new e-commerce trends for business growth, preparing product proposals for future and current e-commerce partners.

  • Lead and build a high-performing team to achieve brand business objectives
  • Develop and execute business plans with clear KPIs supported by strong marketing, commercial, and operating plans
  • Manage overall business unit financial performance and profitability
  • Analyze business performance and identify key areas of improvement and business opportunities
  • Develop, implement, and share best practices across the organisation
  • Contribute to the development commercial process strategy and general business planning
  • Strategically improve procedures by reviewing and developing operational process flows
  • Training and mentoring team members within the business unit
  • Build, manage and develop long-term relationships with key stakeholders (brands, marketplace platform)
  • Lead problem solving of issues with external partners that may arise

What you bring:

As the ideal candidate for the Head of Commercial and Business Development position, you bring along a wealth of experience in commercial or category management in e-commerce communications or a related field. Your strategic thinking abilities are complemented by your strong negotiation skills. You have an exceptional ability to manage complex projects with great attention to detail. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills make you an effective leader and collaborator. You are highly organised and capable of multitasking effectively. Your ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry contacts is a key strength. You stay up-to-date with industry trends and consumer behaviours.

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial or category management in e-commerce communications or related field.

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask.
