Database Administrator (Remote - Nightshift)

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Database Administrator with a focus on Microsoft Azure.

What you'll do:

As a Database Administrator (Microsoft Azure), you will play a crucial role in managing cloud-based databases on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work closely with application developers to design effective database schemas while ensuring that our database environments are scalable and reliable.

• Manage Azure SQL databases and other Azure-based database services.
• Monitor database performance, implement performance tuning, and optimise queries to ensure efficient database operations.
• Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Configure and maintain database security, including user roles, permissions, encryption, and compliance with security policies.
• Perform database maintenance tasks such as indexing, updates, patches, and upgrades.
• Automate database management processes using tools like Azure DevOps, ARM templates, and PowerShell.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing support to development, professional services and operations teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in database administration focusing on Microsoft Azure SQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database and other Azure database services.
• Proficiency in T-SQL with experience in performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
