Senior Data Engineer

What you'll do:

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance data solutions using modern technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, and Python to meet evolving business needs.
• Build and maintain the organisation’s data infrastructure by creating denormalised foundation layers and normalised data marts that support analytics across multiple functions.
• Lead the migration of existing data platforms to Snowflake with minimal disruption to ongoing business operations while ensuring optimal performance throughout the process.
• Manage the full lifecycle of data within Snowflake from ingestion and storage to analytics and reporting, enabling stakeholders to access timely insights.
• Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of the Snowflake environment to maximise efficiency and reliability for all users.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including re-architecting for scalability, optimising data delivery pipelines, and automating manual processes where possible.
• Collaborate closely with systems analysts and cross-functional partners to understand complex data requirements across marketing, product management, operations, and design teams.
• Work directly with executive stakeholders to support critical data infrastructure needs while resolving technical issues related to data workflows.
• Explore emerging technologies such as Big Data platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI tools, Machine Learning models, and Predictive Data Modelling techniques to enhance organisational capabilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time in alignment with business priorities.

What you bring:

• At least 6-8 years of professional experience in the field of data engineering with proven success in designing enterprise-grade solutions.
• Hands-on polyglot programming expertise with current proficiency in Python as an essential skill for building scalable applications.
• Experience automating marketing channel data pipelines including monitoring processes for efficient delivery across multiple sources.
• Extensive background in designing and developing on Snowflake Cloud Data Platform including architecture optimisation for performance.
• Proficiency working with multi-cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP for integrating diverse datasets securely.
• Demonstrated ability to build complex ETL pipelines using SQL alongside databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL) as well as NoSQL systems.
• Track record of designing efficient data models leveraging Medallion Architecture principles for structured analytics.
• Experience supporting REST APIs for both inbound/outbound workflows enabling seamless integration between systems.
• Solid grasp of distributed system concepts required for building fault-tolerant architectures that scale reliably under load.
• Excellent analytic skills working on both structured/unstructured datasets combined with strong communication abilities for non-technical audiences.
