Senior Data Engineer

A leading global market research organisation is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Data & Platform Engineering team in Metro Manila.

What you'll do:

• Design and evolve schemas for both OLTP and OLAP workloads using Azure SQL, Synapse, and Delta Lake, implementing partitioning, indexing, and row-level security for multi-tenant isolation.
• Establish comprehensive data contracts and versioning protocols while governing schema evolution and implementing change data capture (CDC) and slowly changing dimension (SCD) patterns.
• Optimise database performance through query tuning, resource class management, caching strategies, and cost guardrails to ensure efficient operations.
• Architect reliable ELT/ETL pipelines across batch and streaming environments using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Event Hubs, Service Bus, Functions, and Container Apps/AKS.
• Build observable data pipelines that are idempotent, retryable, lineage-aware, with well-defined SLAs/SLOs and runbooks for operational excellence.
• Implement CI/CD processes for data projects including dbt/SQL projects and PySpark jobs using GitHub Actions alongside infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Define and operate sophisticated enrichment layers incorporating UPC/GS1 codes, OCR/EXIF metadata extraction, taxonomies, embeddings, and third-party data joins.
• Curate gold-standard semantic models for analytics and product APIs while managing feature definitions and comprehensive documentation.
• Collaborate closely with Data Science/Machine Learning teams to operationalise feature stores, model outputs, drift signals, and evaluation tables for enhanced analytics capabilities.
• Own reference architecture across ADLS Gen2, Synapse/Databricks, Azure SQL/SQL Server, Cosmos DB (including vector), Azure AI Search, Key Vault, Purview while ensuring security compliance through encryption, secret management, RBAC/ABAC controls, GDPR/SOC 2 adherence.

What you bring:

• Extremely strong proficiency in Python and SQL demonstrated by diagnosing complex query plans and writing production-grade PySpark or pandas code with ease.
• At least seven years’ experience in data engineering or architecture with proven production ownership of SQL databases and large-scale pipelines.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Azure services including ADLS Gen2, Data Factory/Synapse/Databricks, Azure SQL/SQL Server, Functions, Event Hubs/Service Bus, Key Vault.
• Demonstrated skill in designing robust data models (star/snowflake schemas or Data Vault/Lakehouse), implementing CDC/SCD patterns, and managing semantics using dbt or equivalent tools.
• Track record of implementing comprehensive data quality frameworks along with lineage tracking systems and cost/performance guardrails at scale.
• Strong understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architectures as well as security principles including privacy regulations such as GDPR basics.
