Head of Data
A leading healthcare organisation is seeking a Head of Data to champion their data strategy and drive excellence in data management.
What you'll do:
- Lead a dedicated team responsible for testing data loads, managing data pipelines, and overseeing changes to database schema and common data models to ensure seamless operations.
- Guide your team in resolving escalated issues related to the use of the data warehouse or platform, maintaining high standards of service delivery.
- Develop and implement comprehensive frameworks, policies, and procedures for Data Governance that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that business requirements for data are fully supported by leading architectural strategies and overseeing successful implementation across all functions.
- Drive programmes and prioritised initiatives in data platform development and governance to achieve established roadmap plans and key performance indicators.
- Promote a strong data-driven culture throughout the organisation by encouraging ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in all aspects of data management.
- Take full responsibility for the organisation’s Data Platforms, ensuring optimal performance while maintaining compliance with security standards to protect sensitive information.
- Collaborate with group-level stakeholders to define and execute the strategic roadmap for the data platform, providing regular updates on progress against key programmes and initiatives.
- Enable business functions by supporting their requirements for efficient data extraction and reporting, ensuring timely delivery according to service level agreements.
- Partner with vendors and suppliers in the field of data management to deliver high-quality services that meet evolving organisational needs.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated ability to engage teams effectively, retain talent, and drive performance delivery through supportive leadership.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management with excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences within large organisations.
- Expertise in project management methodologies as well as process optimisation within IT or data-focused environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Management, Mathematics/Statistics or Business Information Systems is required for this position.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in IT or data analysis/management roles including at least five years as a leader within a dedicated data function.
- Extensive background in hands-on data analysis or management activities involving large-scale datasets or enterprise systems.
- Track record of successfully implementing data management programmes using business analytics or advanced visualisation software tools.
- Ability to develop comprehensive governance frameworks that address both regulatory compliance and operational efficiency needs.
- Experience collaborating with external vendors or suppliers to deliver effective solutions aligned with organisational objectives.
- Capacity to nurture a positive team culture focused on shared goals, continuous learning, and mutual support.
