Data Scientist

A leading banking institution in Makati is seeking a Data Scientist who is passionate about using data to make a meaningful impact.

What you'll do:

• Design and develop machine learning, statistical, and artificial intelligence models tailored for applications such as credit scoring, fraud detection, customer behaviour analysis, and operational efficiency.
• Conduct comprehensive data wrangling, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis to ensure datasets are optimally prepared for robust modelling outcomes.
• Validate predictive models rigorously and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment into production environments.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into clear analytical requirements and present actionable results in accessible business terms.
• Participate actively in continuous learning initiatives, research activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions within Communities of Practice to foster collective capability building.
• Support enterprise-level data product delivery by ensuring compliance with AI risk management standards and contributing to strategic organisational initiatives as assigned.
• Engage in mentoring activities by sharing your expertise with peers and junior colleagues to nurture a culture of communal growth.
• Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
• Monitor model performance post-deployment and recommend improvements based on real-world feedback and evolving business needs.

What you bring:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or any related quantitative field is required; holding a Master’s degree is considered advantageous.
• Certifications such as TensorFlow Developer or Microsoft Data Scientist are beneficial but not mandatory for consideration.
• Relevant experience can range from 0–2 years for junior positions up to 8+ years for lead roles; experience should include hands-on data science work, model deployment practices, and ideally exposure to financial services.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL is essential along with familiarity with machine learning frameworks; additional knowledge of MLOps practices or model monitoring tools is highly valued.
• Understanding of banking domain use cases or similar regulated industries is considered a plus but not strictly required.
• Demonstrated ability in effective communication—both written and verbal—to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative approach towards teamwork with proven interpersonal skills that foster trust and mutual respect among colleagues.
• Critical thinking abilities combined with strong problem-solving skills that enable you to address challenging analytical questions efficiently.
• Experience or willingness to participate in mentoring activities or knowledge-sharing sessions within professional communities.
