Data Scientist

What you'll do:

• Design and develop machine learning models, statistical algorithms, and artificial intelligence solutions tailored for applications such as credit scoring, fraud prevention, customer behaviour analysis, and operational efficiency.
• Conduct comprehensive data wrangling, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis to ensure datasets are optimised for robust model building.
• Validate predictive models rigorously and collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment into production environments.
• Partner with business stakeholders across departments to translate real-world challenges into clear analytical requirements and present findings in accessible business language.
• Participate actively in continuous learning initiatives by engaging in research activities and contributing knowledge within Communities of Practice.
• Mentor colleagues by sharing best practices and supporting capability building efforts within the team.
• Support the delivery of enterprise-wide data products by ensuring compliance with AI risk management standards and other regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives as assigned by senior leadership, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to organisational goals.
• Document processes thoroughly to maintain transparency and facilitate future enhancements or audits.
• Engage in regular communication with cross-functional teams to align project objectives with broader business strategies.

What you bring:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or another quantitative field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred for those seeking more senior positions.
• Relevant certifications such as TensorFlow Developer or Microsoft Data Scientist are considered advantageous but not mandatory for application.
• At least 7-8 years of hands-on experience in data science, emphasis on projects within financial services or similar industries.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, along with familiarity with popular machine learning frameworks is essential for success in this position.
• Knowledge of MLOps practices—including model monitoring—and understanding of banking domain use cases are highly desirable attributes.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders is crucial.
• A track record of effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams highlights your interpersonal strengths.
