Our client is seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join their dynamic Container Platforms Team. This team plays a crucial role in delivering on the Technology strategy for the organisation, offering services based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and podman container runtime. As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and supporting innovative container hosting platforms. What you'll do:
As a Site Reliability Engineer, your role will be multifaceted. You will be involved in various aspects of the design, development, delivery, and support of container hosting platforms. Your expertise will be crucial in assisting internal customers with re-architecting and migrating their applications for a container and micro-services platform. You will also play a key role in supporting services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews. Your ability to scale systems sustainably through automation will be highly valued.
- Contribute to the design, development, delivery and support of container hosting platforms using OCP, EKS, AKS and podman
- Assist internal customers with re-architecting and migrating their applications for a container and micro-services platform
- Support services before they go live through system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviews
- Own and deliver features and stories in the Container Platforms sprints, peer programming and peer-reviewing with other team members
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
- Be a member of the support and on-call rota for the Container Platforms team, responding to platform or customer issues and driving them through to successful resolution
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Site Reliability Engineer position brings a wealth of experience in Information Technology along with specific expertise in container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Openshift, or Docker. A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is required, and certifications in Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Red Hat Certification in OpenShift Administration, Amazon Web Services, Azure, or ITIL v3 Foundation would be advantageous. Your hands-on experience in production support will be crucial to your success in this role.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering or other relevant courses
- At least 5 years of experience in Information Technology
- Hands-on experience in production support using one or more containers orchestration platform such as Kubernetes, Openshift or Docker
- Certification in Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Red Hat Certification in OpenShift Administration would be an advantage
- Certification in Amazon Web Services and Azure certifications would be an advantage
- ITIL v3 Foundation or similar certifications or training would be an advantage
