Principal Quality Engineer

What you'll do:

• Design and implement scalable, reusable automation frameworks with a focus on Playwright for comprehensive end-to-end testing across multiple products.
• Lead the evolution of test automation architecture by establishing best-in-class design patterns that prioritise performance, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.
• Define and enforce automation standards to create a centre of excellence for test automation practices throughout the engineering organisation.
• Conduct research into emerging tools and technologies to enhance automation coverage, improve performance metrics, and drive overall efficiency in testing processes.
• Act as a subject matter expert in Playwright and other modern automation tools by mentoring junior and mid-level engineers through hands-on training initiatives.
• Provide strategic direction on test automation adoption across cross-functional teams to align with company-wide quality assurance objectives.
• Develop, maintain, and optimise highly efficient automated test scripts for functional, regression, performance, API testing, as well as non-functional requirements such as security.
• Ensure seamless integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines by collaborating closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to enable continuous testing and deployment cycles.
• Implement advanced solutions such as parallel execution, distributed testing environments, cloud-based automation strategies to maximise test efficiency.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for automation efforts while establishing effective test data management strategies to support robust automated testing.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field demonstrating strong foundational knowledge in software development principles.
• At least twelve years of experience in QA Automation showcasing deep expertise in designing complex automated testing solutions within large-scale environments.
• Proven proficiency with modern test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright (required), Cypress, WebdriverIO, Typescript or similar technologies relevant to current industry standards.
• Comprehensive understanding of software testing principles including methodologies like Agile Development along with established design patterns for maintainable codebases.
• Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using contemporary DevOps tools to facilitate continuous delivery workflows.
• Demonstrated capability in conducting performance testing as well as security assessments through non-functional scripting techniques.
• Ability to lead training sessions for manual QA engineers transitioning into automation roles while providing ongoing mentorship across diverse technical backgrounds.
• Familiarity with AI-driven approaches for optimising test selection and execution within large-scale projects is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with Software Architects, Developers, Product Managers and other stakeholders within Agile ceremonies.
• Willingness to work flexible night shift schedules (typically 8pm-4am PHT; adjusting after Daylight Saving Time) alongside occasional in-person meetings within Metro Manila or nearby provinces.
