What you'll do:

As an IT Financials and Resource Manager, you will be entrusted with steering the organisation’s technology investment strategy towards greater efficiency and transparency. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with various internal stakeholders as you develop budgets, forecast spending trends, analyse costs versus benefits, and oversee the implementation of best-in-class FinOps practices. You will design models that allocate costs fairly across departments while ensuring compliance with audit standards. By managing vendor relationships from a financial perspective, you will help secure favourable terms that support long-term growth. Your ability to synthesise complex data into clear executive reports will empower senior leaders to make informed decisions. Success in this role means fostering a culture of accountability around technology spending while nurturing collaborative relationships between IT, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Operations, and Business Units.

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive IT financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts that align with organisational goals.
  • Oversee detailed tracking of financial performance across multiple IT portfolios, projects, and services to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Provide executive-level insights through thorough cost-benefit analyses and return-on-investment evaluations for technology initiatives.
  • Champion FinOps practices throughout the organisation to promote cloud cost accountability and efficient utilisation of resources.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance teams, and business units to optimise cloud resource usage while maintaining robust governance frameworks.
  • Establish effective reporting mechanisms for cloud spend management that support informed decision-making at all levels.
  • Design and implement sophisticated cost allocation models tailored to business needs and IT service delivery requirements.
  • Ensure accurate financial tracking and transparent reporting for all IT services and cloud resources across departments.
  • Lead financial evaluations and negotiations for vendor contracts and renewals in partnership with procurement and legal teams.
  • Develop executive dashboards and key performance indicators for monitoring IT financial performance; present actionable insights to senior leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred for advanced strategic insight.
  • At least five years’ experience in IT financial management or FinOps roles where you have demonstrated leadership in budget planning and analysis.
  • Proven expertise working with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP alongside practical knowledge of FinOps frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in financial modelling using Excel coupled with compelling storytelling abilities via PowerPoint presentations.
  • Familiarity with specialised financial tools like Apptio or CloudHealth which enable precise tracking of technology expenditures.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams of analysts or specialists while facilitating cross-functional collaboration between technical and non-technical groups.
  • Experience leading workshops or strategic planning sessions involving both internal colleagues and external partners.
  • FinOps certification or equivalent professional training is highly advantageous for this position.
