Java Developer

A Java Developer job opportunity has become available, to build, and maintain software applications in their respective domain. This is a hands-on technical development role and post holders will be highly proficient software engineers in at least one area of web/application development.

About the Java Developer Role:
As the Java Developer, you will be working with a team in Manila and supporting client managers in Australia, London and Boston, and have the opportunity to be part of the exciting next phase of the company, building new research technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver assigned user stories and tasks, working collaboratively in Sprints
• Code, test and troubleshoot software programmes, utilise the appropriate hardware, database and programming technologies, and adopting the prescribed team approach and standards
• Collaborate with testing and service desk teams to determine system problems, and work with infrastructure, application engineer, database and other related teams to deploy code releases swiftly and efficiently
• Actively engage within the development team, share ideas and assist the team where practical, participate in code reviews and the underlying environment to understand and minimise negative impact on system performance
• Produce and deliver software manuals, or other project/technical documentation as and when required
• Continually evolve and develop knowledge and experience in new programming languages and technologies
• Improve depth of understanding of the respective applications/websites looked after by the team, and of the business context/rules behind them
• Supervise junior/mid-level software engineers to complete deliverables within a given project/maintenance task
• Prepare reports and analysis regarding issues, incident in progress, opposing ideas and appropriate recommendations or conclusions
• Complete daily organisational functions like worksheet reports

To succeed as the Java Developer, you should have at least four years of experience in Java development.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with web development technologies such as Java EE, Spring, Hibernate, REST / SOAP Web Services, Javascript, CSS, HTML
• Experience with Docker and AWS is a plus
• Industry recognised certifications in one or more of the named technologies is a distinct advantage
• At least four years of work experience in a database technology, Oracle or MySQL as relevant examples
• Comfortable and familiar with using industry standard software development tools and practices including but not limited to SVN/GIT source code control systems
• Experience in an Agile development environment
