What you'll do:

• Design and develop distributed microservices and cloud-native applications tailored specifically for payment workflows that demand high availability and performance.
• Define API-first strategies for services involved in payment processing, wallet integration, billing, and reconciliation to ensure seamless partner integrations.
• Lead the implementation of event-driven architectures using Kafka and Pub/Sub models to enable secure, decoupled communication between internal and external systems.
• Collaborate closely with security, operations, and engineering teams to enforce rigorous security standards while enabling real-time observability across all platforms.
• Architect deployment and infrastructure layers utilising EKS, Terraform, and ArgoCD to guarantee reliable automation and effortless scalability for all services.
• Guide CI/CD strategy and best practices using GitLab CI by embedding DevSecOps principles into delivery workflows for enhanced quality and security.
• Mentor squads on adopting cloud-native patterns and microservices best practices to foster knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the team.
• Oversee the integration of new payment partners by designing robust APIs and ensuring smooth onboarding processes that meet compliance requirements.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies relevant to payments architecture to recommend improvements that enhance system resilience and user experience.

What you bring:

• At least 15 years of total experience with a minimum of 10 years dedicated to Solutions Architecture roles within complex environments.
• Proven track record designing and implementing distributed microservices architectures focused on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes ecosystems with hands-on experience deploying production workloads using Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
• Expertise in API design for both internal service communication and external partner integrations within regulated industries such as payments or fintech.
• Extensive experience implementing Pub/Sub architectures leveraging Kafka as the backbone for real-time asynchronous messaging between services.
• Demonstrated ability architecting solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using native cloud services for optimal performance.
• Strong background in infrastructure automation practices including Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), GitOps methodologies, and automated deployments via ArgoCD.
• Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD best practices with practical experience embedding DevSecOps principles through tools like GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with DynamoDB or similar NoSQL databases supporting high-throughput transactional systems is highly desirable.
• Optional: Experience developing with Java, Go, or Python frameworks adds further value to your technical toolkit.
