The Robert Walters Group held its annual fundraising event on 11 October 2019. The Philippines office, which includes a total of 169 Robert Walters and Resource Solutions staff, came together on this day to raise a total of PHP 200,835 for the Missionaries of Charity (Home of Joy for the Sick Children), a facility that cares for sick and abandoned children.

A united effort

To raise as much as possible for Missionaries of Charity (Home of Joy for the Sick Children), all the teams organised and ran their own fundraising activity. These year’s theme was “Crazy Carnival” and the activities included:

  • “Happy Feet”, where four people walked barefoot the entire afternoon
  • “Baby Shark Abs Challenge”, which saw participants doing a core-strengthening routine to the beat of “Baby Shark”
  • “Eat it or Wear it”, where participants had to choose whether they will eat the item or wear it in order to guess what it is
  • “Taste buddies”, with pairs tasting the food and describing it to their partners while blindfolded
  • “Can you feel it”, which had participants feel items within a box and guessing what they are

Other highlights included “Men in Black”, featuring four brave men dancing while wearing heels. “Bad Hair Day” comprised of three ladies with their hair teased, and “What a Joke” saw very own Monty Sujanani put on a full face of make-up and getting into character as “Joker”.

Aside from these activities, we also organised a bazaar selling pre-loved items such as clothes, shoes, bags, books and more. Some employees also took on personal challenges such as exercise routines and a mini concert. Everyone also thoroughly enjoyed the traditional lunch sale, which featured special dishes and desserts prepared by our staff. The office auction saw the most funds raised amounting to PHP 42,500.

“Global Charity Day is our way of giving back and be able to contribute to the common good. Our staff members were eager to participate in all our activities and donated from their hearts. Thanks to that, we have surpassed our target amount to raise for the sick children. Everyone indeed has come together to show their creativity and talent, and share their blessings for a good cause,” said Monty Sujanani, Director of Robert Walters Philippines.

Supporting Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children

Missionaries of Charity Home of Joy for the Sick Children is a facility located in Tondo, Manila administered by nuns. It is a part of the Missionaries of Charity around the Philippines founded by Mother Theresa of Calcutta. They serve as home to mostly sick or disabled children, many of whom are suffering from illnesses such as hydrocephalous, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and/or blindness. Some of the children were also abandoned by their parents due to financial concerns and the inability to care for them physically. The charity’s mission is to love and serve the sick and the poor.
