What you'll do:

As an Accounting Manager – AI and Automation you will be responsible for overseeing a book of work managed primarily through advanced AI agents integrated within proprietary property-management platforms. You will collaborate with fellow managers to coordinate closing cycles across multiple entities while maintaining high standards of compliance with U.S. GAAP. You will also support corporate accounting functions such as accruals and prepaids while leading client onboarding/offboarding processes.

• Oversee the accounting for an assigned portfolio primarily through AI agents operating on proprietary platforms, ensuring quality control and accuracy without performing each task manually.
• Direct, supervise, and validate automated workflows executed by AI agents, focusing on judgement-based review rather than traditional data entry.
• Utilize AI tools to tackle complex reconciliations, investigate accounting anomalies, automate repetitive tasks, and resolve exceptions flagged by automated systems or surfaced during review.
• Prepare and review journal entries as well as system-generated reports for completeness, proper coding, compliance with U.S. GAAP standards, and overall reliability before final sign-off.
• Collaborate closely with other Accounting Managers to coordinate period-end close calendars, hand-offs, dependencies, and ensure timely delivery of financial statements across the portfolio.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by producing financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP requirements for lenders, owners, tax preparers, and auditors.
• Provide variance explanations, supporting schedules, and management reporting directly to senior leadership for external stakeholders.
• Review balance-sheet accounts for integrity by confirming that subledgers tie to general ledgers; investigate aged or exception items and document resolutions for audit purposes.
• Own oversight across accounts payable/receivable processes including invoice processing, payment runs, billings, receipts, approvals controls, segregation of duties, and payment authorisation.
• Lead client onboarding/offboarding accounting workstreams such as opening balances setup in AppFolio, chart-of-accounts mapping, final reconciliations, balance transfers, and clean record handoff.

Your background includes deep familiarity with U.S. GAAP standards as well as month-end closing procedures across accounts payable/receivable functions. Your ability to work independently from the Philippines ensures dependable performance even when coordinating closely with U.S.-based colleagues.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent professional experience) demonstrating solid understanding of general ledgers, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles including accruals management, reconciliation procedures, month-end close protocols.
• Hands-on experience transacting within AppFolio property-management accounting platform including configuration and reporting capabilities.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex or ChatGPT coupled with a belief in technology’s potential to reshape accounting roles.
• Analytical mindset paired with willingness to learn SQL queries, APIs integration techniques or automation concepts without needing programming expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills enabling effective coordination with U.S.-based leadership teams and peer managers.
• Ability to work independently from the Philippines with reliable internet connectivity while maintaining regular overlap with U.S. Pacific business hours.
