A leading organisation in the travel sector is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee and elevate its accounting, financial reporting, and control functions across multiple business units. What you'll do:

As a Financial Controller, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s financial landscape. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting while continuously seeking ways to enhance processes.

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple business entities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in line with company policies.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to deliver timely and precise financial reports that support business objectives and report to HQ in Canada.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable, General Ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and cash management processes to maintain robust financial controls.
  • Prepare and review comprehensive monthly financial statements and management reporting packages for internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate consolidation of financial data across various entities and currencies, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the reporting cycle.
  • Drive enhancements in accounting processes by identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, automation, and improved financial controls.
  • Support compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies by maintaining strong governance frameworks.
  • Lead both internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation, addressing queries promptly, and ensuring audit requirements are met on schedule.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasting activities while assisting with working capital management to optimise cash utilisation across the organisation.
  • Coach and develop members of the accounting team by fostering a collaborative environment focused on best practices, accountability, and continuous learning.

What you bring:

Your background should reflect substantial experience in accounting operations within complex organisational settings—ideally spanning multiple entities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required; CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with exceptional experience.
  • At least seven years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles with a minimum of three years supervising or leading teams within these functions.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting including month-end close processes, account reconciliations, general ledger oversight, and accounts payable management.
  • Experience managing cash flow monitoring activities as well as implementing robust financial controls within complex organisations.
  • Exposure to multi-entity structures or multi-currency environments is highly desirable for this position.
  • Background supporting multinational organisations or industries such as shared services, BPOs, travel or professional services would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability coordinating both internal and external audits efficiently while maintaining strong governance practices.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel alongside experience with financial systems or ERP platforms is essential for success in this role.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of your work.
  • Outstanding communication abilities enable you to build positive relationships across teams while effectively presenting complex information.
