TREASURY RISK MANAGER

A leading financial institution is seeking a Treasury Risk Manager to play a pivotal role in managing balance sheet risk, ensuring assets and liabilities are aligned, and supporting sound financial decision-making. This opportunity offers you the chance to work closely with diverse teams across Treasury, Finance, Investments, and Risk, translating complex numerical analysis into actionable insights for senior management. The organisation values your expertise in Asset & Liability Management (ALM) and investment-related risk, providing a supportive environment where your analytical skills and collaborative approach will be highly appreciated. Flexible working opportunities and ongoing training are available to help you grow professionally while contributing to the stability and success of the business.

* You will be responsible for overseeing key financial risks including interest rate, liquidity, funding, and balance sheet optimisation, ensuring the organisation remains resilient in changing market conditions.
* Your role involves developing and enhancing ALM frameworks, conducting gap analysis, stress testing, scenario analysis, and preparing clear risk reports for management and regulatory bodies.
* The organisation offers flexible working arrangements, access to generous pension contributions, and continuous training opportunities to support your professional development within a knowledgeable and dependable team.

What you'll do:

As a Treasury Risk Manager, you will immerse yourself in the intricacies of balance sheet management by monitoring key financial risks such as interest rate changes, liquidity needs, funding strategies, and asset-liability alignment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing sophisticated ALM frameworks that guide the organisation’s approach to risk mitigation. You will conduct gap analyses to pinpoint maturity mismatches between assets and liabilities while performing rigorous stress tests and scenario analyses that anticipate how external factors may impact the business. By providing oversight on investment portfolios and translating complex data into accessible insights for senior leaders, you will directly influence strategic decisions. Preparing detailed risk reports for both internal committees and regulators will be part of your routine. You’ll collaborate extensively with colleagues across multiple departments—Treasury, Finance, Investments, Risk—to ensure a shared understanding of risk priorities. Acting as a trusted advisor on ALM topics within the company, you’ll also contribute to policy development by helping set limits and define risk appetite frameworks that safeguard organisational interests.

* Monitor and manage critical financial risks such as interest rate fluctuations, liquidity requirements, funding strategies, and balance sheet optimisation to ensure organisational stability.
* Develop, maintain, and enhance robust Asset & Liability Management frameworks, models, and metrics that underpin effective risk management practices.
* Perform comprehensive gap analysis to identify maturity mismatches between assets and liabilities while conducting detailed balance sheet reviews.
* Lead stress testing exercises, scenario analyses, and sensitivity assessments to evaluate potential impacts on the business under various market conditions.
* Provide oversight and constructive challenge on investment portfolios and strategies to ensure alignment with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
* Translate complex numerical findings into clear, practical insights that inform senior management’s decision-making processes.
* Prepare thorough risk reports for presentation to management committees and regulatory authorities, ensuring transparency and compliance.
* Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Investments, and Risk functions to foster a communal approach to risk management.
* Act as a central point of contact for all matters related to ALM and balance sheet risk topics within the organisation.
* Contribute actively to the development of risk policies, setting appropriate limits and establishing comprehensive risk appetite frameworks.

What you bring:

To excel as a Treasury Risk Manager in this respected financial institution, your background should include substantial experience in managing financial risks or Asset & Liability Management within banking or similar sectors. Your academic credentials in finance-related fields provide a solid base for understanding complex balance sheet dynamics. You bring deep familiarity with ALM principles—gap analysis techniques for identifying mismatches between assets and liabilities; stress testing approaches that simulate adverse scenarios; robust reporting practices; and governance standards that uphold transparency. Your comfort with numbers enables you to handle large volumes of data efficiently while extracting actionable insights. Communication is one of your strengths: you can distil complicated financial information into clear messages tailored for different audiences. Building trustful relationships comes naturally thanks to your interpersonal skills; you enjoy collaborating with colleagues from various departments. Advanced proficiency in Excel supports your modelling work; additional experience with SQL or dedicated risk platforms further enhances your capabilities. Professional certifications like FRM or CFA demonstrate your commitment but are not prerequisites. Above all else, your willingness to share knowledge through training sessions reflects your dedication to personal growth within an inclusive team environment.

* A degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting or a related discipline provides you with a strong foundation for this role.
* Proven experience in financial risk management or Asset & Liability Management within banks or financial institutions equips you with relevant industry knowledge.
* Familiarity with ALM concepts including gap analysis, stress testing methodologies, risk reporting procedures, and governance structures is essential.
* Exceptional numerical capability allows you to confidently analyse large datasets and extract meaningful insights from complex figures.
* Outstanding communication skills enable you to explain intricate financial concepts clearly to non-technical audiences across the business.
* Demonstrated stakeholder management abilities help you build cooperative relationships with colleagues from Treasury, Finance, Investments, and Risk functions.
* Experience using Excel for advanced modelling tasks is required; familiarity with SQL or specialised risk systems is advantageous.
* Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or PRM (Professional Risk Manager) are considered beneficial but not mandatory.
* A collaborative mindset ensures you thrive in communal environments where teamwork is valued over individual achievement.
* Commitment to continuous learning means you embrace training opportunities that enhance your technical expertise.
