Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with senior leaders across departments to ensure that all models—whether statistical or judgment-based—are properly governed throughout their lifecycle. You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of models in use across the business while proactively identifying areas of concentration or dependency that could impact overall enterprise risk. By preparing insightful reports and dashboards for executive audiences, you will help drive informed decision-making at the highest levels. Your ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights will be crucial as you oversee validation processes and escalate issues when necessary. Success in this role requires not only technical acumen but also strong interpersonal skills to foster cooperation among diverse teams while upholding rigorous standards of governance.
* Take ownership of the policy and framework for model risk management, ensuring it aligns with regulatory requirements such as BSP guidelines, Basel standards, and internal enterprise risk frameworks including ERM, ICAAP, and Risk Appetite.
* Define and implement governance standards covering all aspects of the model lifecycle, including materiality assessment, risk classification, escalation thresholds, and transparent reporting mechanisms.
* Maintain a centralised inventory of all models used within the organisation, ensuring each has clearly defined ownership, purpose, lifecycle status, and appropriate risk tiering.
* Aggregate data on models across various business functions to identify concentrations of risk, dependencies between models, and potential overreliance on specific methodologies or systems.
* Translate complex findings from model analysis into consolidated enterprise-level risk views that inform Senior Management and Board-level decision making.
* Oversee validation governance by reviewing validation outcomes, identifying systemic issues or emerging risks, and ensuring timely escalation in accordance with established risk appetite parameters.
* Prepare detailed dashboards and reports tailored for Senior Management, the Risk Management Committee, and Board oversight to facilitate informed strategic decisions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed model risk considerations into stress testing exercises, recovery planning initiatives, capital adequacy assessments, and other critical processes.
* Support continuous improvement by monitoring industry trends in model risk management and recommending enhancements to existing policies or procedures as needed.
What you bring:
To excel as Assistant Vice President for Model Risk Management, you will draw upon your extensive background in quantitative disciplines combined with deep experience navigating regulatory environments within financial institutions. Your proven track record managing complex model inventories—from initial development through validation—will enable you to provide valuable oversight while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. In addition to technical proficiency with frameworks like ICAAP or Basel standards, your interpersonal strengths will allow you to build trust among colleagues at all levels. You are comfortable synthesising large volumes of information into concise recommendations that guide strategic decisions. Your commitment to responsible governance ensures that risks are identified early and addressed collaboratively. Ultimately, your blend of analytical expertise and people skills positions you as an indispensable partner in safeguarding the organisation’s long-term stability.
* A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or another relevant quantitative discipline is required; holding a master’s degree is considered an advantage for this position.
* You have accumulated at least 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in model risk management or related fields such as quantitative risk oversight, capital management or enterprise risk management within regulated financial institutions.
* Demonstrated technical knowledge of Model Risk Management frameworks—including lifecycle governance principles, materiality assessment methods, tiering strategies—as well as familiarity with ICAAP linkages and stress testing protocols is essential.
* Experience overseeing credit models (including ECL/IFRS9), pricing models and capital models within a banking or financial services context is highly desirable.
* Your approach balances technical rigour with practical governance discipline; you are adept at applying sound judgement when providing credible challenge at senior levels of the organisation.
* Proven ability to aggregate complex data sets from multiple sources to identify systemic risks or concentrations that may affect enterprise-wide outcomes is important.
* Excellent communication skills are necessary for preparing high-quality reports and dashboards tailored for executive audiences such as Senior Management Committees or Boards.
