What you'll do:

As Senior Manager Model Risk Management, you will play a central role in safeguarding the integrity of the organisation’s modelling environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all models in use throughout the business while ensuring rigorous documentation standards are met. You will apply your expertise to refine criteria for assessing model materiality and tiering so that risks are appropriately classified according to established frameworks. By consolidating validation results and tracking remediation efforts, you will provide senior leaders with clear insights into emerging risks and areas requiring attention. Your work will extend beyond technical analysis; you’ll be instrumental in preparing governance materials that inform strategic decisions at committee level. Success in this position requires a blend of analytical acumen, meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills for translating technical findings into actionable insights, and a collaborative approach when working with diverse teams across the organisation.

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all models used across the organisation, ensuring each is clearly documented with respect to purpose, ownership, lifecycle stage, and risk classification.
  • Apply and regularly update criteria for materiality, tiering, and risk classification in strict alignment with the Model Risk Management Framework.
  • Conduct thorough consistency checks to guarantee that all models meeting governance definitions are accurately captured and subject to ongoing monitoring processes.
  • Consolidate detailed model information—including validation status, findings, and limitations—into holistic enterprise-level risk views for effective oversight.
  • Identify concentrations of risk and dependencies across critical areas such as ICAAP, ECL/IFRS 9, stress testing, pricing models, and other strategic processes.
  • Track remediation progress for validation findings, escalate high-risk issues promptly, and ensure these are visible to management for timely action.
  • Prepare insightful dashboards and comprehensive working papers tailored for Senior Management and the Risk Management Committee to support informed decision-making.
  • Support independent model validation activities by providing analytical input and ensuring outputs are defensible, audit-ready, and aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate governance processes as part of the second line of defence by coordinating with various stakeholders to uphold robust model risk oversight.
  • Integrate model risk considerations into broader enterprise risk management (ERM), risk appetite statements, ICAAP submissions, and senior management reports.

What you bring:

To excel as Senior Manager Model Risk Management you will bring substantial experience from similar roles within regulated financial services environments where you have developed deep familiarity with end-to-end model governance processes.   • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems or related discipline is required; holding a Master’s degree would be considered an advantage for this position.
  • A minimum of three to seven years’ relevant experience within model risk management, quantitative risk oversight, enterprise risk functions or capital analytics roles at regulated financial institutions is essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of frameworks including model lifecycle governance principles, materiality assessment techniques, tiering concepts as well as ICAAP linkages and stress testing methodologies is highly valued.
  • Proven ability to perform independent validation activities using recognised techniques while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards is necessary.
  • Exceptional analytical skills combined with keen attention to detail enable you to identify subtle patterns or inconsistencies within complex data sets or model outputs.
  • Professional scepticism coupled with sound judgement allows you to challenge assumptions constructively while maintaining objectivity throughout review processes.
  • Experience operating effectively within a second-line control environment where robust oversight mechanisms are paramount is important for success in this role.
  • Excellent written communication skills are needed for preparing dashboards, working papers and reports that translate technical findings into governance-ready insights suitable for senior audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities facilitate collaboration with colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as engagement with senior stakeholders during committee meetings or project reviews.
