What you'll do:

As a PCS (Instrumentation) Engineer, you will play a central role in shaping the success of large-scale projects by applying your extensive expertise in instrumentation and control systems.

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices to deliver effective solutions for complex instrumentation challenges across multiple projects.
  • Make informed decisions on engineering problems and methods that significantly influence design activities and project outcomes.
  • Continuously enhance technical skills by staying updated with industry advancements and integrating new knowledge into daily work.
  • Serve as Group Supervisor or Lead Engineer on assigned projects, providing guidance and direction to engineers and designers within the team.
  • Coordinate closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation requirements into overall project plans.
  • Organise workloads efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with company procedures.
  • Plan tasks for engineers and designers, assigning responsibilities such as checking calculations and reviewing engineering sketches to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee drafting and design processes by resolving queries promptly and verifying that final drawings meet all content requirements.
  • Prepare material requisitions and provide technical input for subcontract packages when necessary to support project delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of relevant sections of project estimates, generate change notices as required, and monitor drawing schedules including manhour forecasts.

What you bring:

To excel as a PCS Instrumentation Engineer in this role, you will bring proven experience managing large-scale projects within demanding industrial environments such as petrochemical plants or refineries.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering is essential for this role as it provides the foundational knowledge required for advanced instrumentation work.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years’ progressive experience in instrumentation and control engineering within petrochemical, chemical, refining or oil and gas industries demonstrates your capability to handle complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint enables efficient documentation, reporting, and communication across teams.
  • Experience using Smart Plant Instrumentation is highly desirable as it streamlines design processes; familiarity with 3D modelling software further enhances your ability to visualise system layouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise teams—planning workloads, assigning tasks, reviewing calculations/sketches—ensures successful project execution from start to finish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills allow you to coordinate effectively with other departments while fostering a supportive team environment built on trust and open communication.
  • A thorough understanding of quality procedures ensures compliance at every stage of project delivery; experience checking drawings for conformity is particularly valuable.
  • Capability to prepare material requisitions/technical inputs for subcontract packages supports smooth procurement processes during project lifecycles.
  • Experience generating change notices/maintaining project estimate records reflects strong organisational skills vital for managing complex assignments.
