What you'll do:

As a Database Manager based in Makati, you will play an integral part in both the technical execution of database services and the management of a talented local team. Your day-to-day will involve balancing hands-on work with SQL Server environments—ensuring their reliability and scalability—with overseeing cloud migrations using AWS technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining operational excellence across MongoDB and Snowflake platforms while implementing automation through Terraform and Ansible. In addition to technical duties, you will nurture your team's growth by providing mentorship, guidance, and clear direction. Your ability to coordinate 24/7 support operations will ensure uninterrupted service delivery. By driving process improvements aligned with ITIL best practices and collaborating with international colleagues, you will help set new benchmarks for quality within the organisation’s database landscape.

• Oversee daily operations of the database service team in Manila, ensuring all activities are performed efficiently and according to established standards.
• Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments (2019-2025), ensuring high availability through Always-On configurations and robust backup strategies.
• Implement and optimise cloud-based database solutions using AWS as the preferred platform, leveraging tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Packer for infrastructure automation.
• Administer NoSQL databases including MongoDB and data warehousing solutions like Snowflake to support business-critical applications.
• Coordinate 24/7 operational support by distributing tasks across teams and ensuring seamless handovers between shifts.
• Monitor system performance proactively, troubleshoot issues promptly, and implement preventative measures to minimise downtime or disruptions.
• Develop and enforce ITIL-aligned processes for incident management, change control, and service delivery within the database operations function.
• Mentor and guide two direct reports in Manila while fostering a collaborative atmosphere that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with international teams to align local practices with global standards and participate in cross-regional projects as required.
• Report regularly on key metrics related to database health, team performance, compliance with SLAs, and progress on strategic initiatives.

• Demonstrated proficiency in deploying infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform and Ansible within cloud ecosystems such as AWS (preferred), Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Solid background administering NoSQL databases like MongoDB as well as data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake for large-scale data processing needs.
• Track record of successfully leading teams for at least three to five years—mentoring staff members while promoting collaboration and shared accountability.
• Experience working in high-load environments governed by ITIL frameworks; adept at process management for incident response, change control, and service delivery.
• Ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements in a fast-paced setting while maintaining discipline around standards compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust among team members locally and internationally; able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
