Save job

An exceptional opportunity awaits for an accomplished professional to step into the role of Head of Data Management and Governance at a leading organisation based in Taguig.

This pivotal position is designed for someone who thrives on shaping and elevating enterprise-wide data strategies, ensuring that data is not only trusted and secure but also compliant and fit-for-purpose across all business functions. As the executive owner of data policies, standards, and quality frameworks, you will be instrumental in embedding robust governance practices throughout the organisation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Business, IT, Risk, Compliance, Architecture, and Analytics, to institutionalise data as a strategic asset while upholding regulatory requirements and internal controls. The organisation offers a supportive environment where your expertise in driving cultural adoption of data ownership and continuous improvement will be highly valued. Flexible working opportunities and a commitment to professional growth make this a truly attractive career move for those passionate about making a lasting impact in the world of data.

  • Play a key leadership role in establishing and operating an enterprise-wide data governance framework that ensures data is secure, compliant, and discoverable across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders from multiple departments to drive the adoption of best-in-class data management practices while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities within a forward-thinking organisation that values professional development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in data maturity.

What you'll do:

As Head of Data Management and Governance you will play a central role in shaping how the organisation manages its most valuable asset—its data. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with diverse teams to define robust frameworks that govern every aspect of the data lifecycle. You will champion best practices in quality assurance while ensuring that all regulatory obligations are met without compromise. By fostering a culture of shared responsibility for data integrity through training initiatives and community building among stewards, you will help embed governance into every facet of business operations. Your ability to translate complex requirements into actionable policies will be crucial as you oversee everything from metadata management to compliance reporting. Success in this role means creating an environment where trusted information flows seamlessly across platforms—empowering decision-makers at every level.

  • Define, implement, and operate an enterprise data governance framework encompassing ownership models, critical data elements, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Establish and lead the Data Governance Council as well as domain-specific working groups to ensure effective collaboration across business units.
  • Embed governance processes into delivery operations and change management initiatives to maintain consistent oversight throughout the organisation.
  • Own and enforce standards for master, reference, transactional, and analytical data while ensuring consistent definitions across systems.
  • Develop comprehensive lifecycle management protocols for data classification, handling, retention, and archiving to support operational efficiency.
  • Design and implement an enterprise-wide data quality framework with clear rules, thresholds, monitoring dashboards, and proactive issue management processes.
  • Oversee metadata management by maintaining business glossaries, technical metadata repositories, lineage documentation, and self-service catalogues.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations such as Data Privacy Act or GDPR by defining access controls, masking protocols, consent mechanisms, and acting as governance lead during audits.
  • Partner with architecture and platform teams to embed governance into pipelines, warehouses, lakehouses, integration layers, and new system deployments by design.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing team dedicated to data stewardship while driving training programmes that foster cultural adoption of strong data ownership principles.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Data Management and Governance you will bring extensive experience gained from senior roles within large-scale organisations where you have been responsible for developing comprehensive strategies around information assets. Your background should include deep familiarity with both technical aspects—such as metadata management systems—and regulatory environments typical of highly controlled sectors like finance or insurance. You are adept at translating complex compliance requirements into pragmatic operational policies that can be adopted organisation-wide. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trust among stakeholders at all levels while your structured approach ensures consistency across multiple projects simultaneously. A passion for nurturing talent through training initiatives combined with your ability to drive cultural transformation around shared ownership makes you uniquely suited for this influential position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data or related field is required; Master’s degree in Data, IT or Business is preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in roles focused on data management, governance frameworks (such as DAMA or DCAM), quality assurance or analytics within large enterprises.
  • Minimum 5 years’ proven track record in senior or enterprise-level leadership positions overseeing complex technology or data functions.
  • Demonstrated expertise implementing end-to-end governance frameworks including policy creation, stewardship models and council leadership.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulated industries such as insurance or financial services with hands-on experience navigating compliance landscapes like GDPR or local privacy acts.
  • Proficiency managing metadata repositories (business glossaries/technical metadata), lineage documentation tools and self-service catalogues for enhanced traceability.
  • Experience designing enterprise-grade quality monitoring systems including rule definition, dashboarding solutions and root cause analysis protocols.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (DWH/lakehouse/streaming/BI) as well as modern master/reference/transactional/analytical data management technologies.
  • Certifications such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM are highly desirable along with practical exposure to industry-leading tools for cataloguing or quality control.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling effective engagement with executive stakeholders plus a collaborative approach that builds consensus across diverse teams.
