Data Engineer (AWS, Python)

What you'll do:
As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions that support business intelligence and advanced analytics across the organisation. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements, develop efficient ETL pipelines, and optimise cloud-based data platforms. You will also contribute to data warehouse design, migration initiatives, and ongoing improvements to ensure high-quality, trusted data is readily available for reporting and analytics. Success in this role requires strong programming skills, hands-on cloud experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively within Agile delivery teams.

Design and develop datasets for business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics based on stakeholder requirements.

Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and curate data into the enterprise data warehouse.

Design and develop data marts that support business users and downstream analytical applications.

Implement and enhance data models aligned with enterprise data warehouse standards and best practices.

Support data migration initiatives from legacy databases into modern cloud-based data warehouse environments.

Develop, maintain, and optimise ETL workflows using AWS Glue and other cloud-based technologies.

Build scalable data engineering solutions using Python or Java to automate and improve data processing.

Perform data validation, cleansing, quality assurance, and housekeeping activities to ensure data integrity.

Troubleshoot and optimise data pipelines, identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.

Follow data engineering standards, coding best practices, and Agile development methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.

You are an experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in cloud-based data platforms, ETL development, and modern data warehouse technologies. You have hands-on experience developing production-grade data pipelines using Python or Java and enjoy working collaboratively to solve complex data challenges. Your strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to data quality enable you to deliver reliable solutions that support critical business decisions.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 3–6 years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.

Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services, including AWS Glue, AWS RDS, and AWS Fargate.

Strong programming skills in Python or Java, with the ability to develop scalable production-grade solutions.

Experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration workflows.

Working knowledge of Snowflake (preferred), PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, business intelligence, and analytics.

Experience working within Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

AWS certification is preferred; Snowflake SnowPro Core certification is an advantage.
