Associate Director for Cloud Operations

Save job

An Associate Director for Cloud Operations has opened at a leading insurance company in the Philippines.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director for Cloud Operations to join a leading organisation in Makati, supporting group-wide cloud and infrastructure initiatives. This pivotal role is designed for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, where your expertise will directly influence the delivery of world-class public cloud services across multiple business units. You will be at the forefront of driving operational excellence, ensuring service levels are consistently met, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within a supportive and knowledgeable team. The organisation offers flexible working opportunities and values professional growth, making this an ideal position for those seeking to make a significant impact while enjoying a positive work-life balance.

  • Play a key role in shaping and delivering public cloud operations across group and local business units, ensuring high standards of service performance and compliance.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities in a supportive environment that encourages knowledge sharing, professional development, and collaboration with both internal teams and global technology partners.
  • Benefit from being part of a forward-thinking organisation that values operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the well-being of its employees.

What you'll do:

As Associate Director for Cloud Operations, you will play an instrumental role in orchestrating seamless day-to-day operations for public cloud environments that support both group office functions and local business units. Your responsibilities will span from managing incident response protocols to ensuring robust change management processes are in place. You will foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external technology partners alike while championing best practices in compliance and security. By guiding multiple technical teams through complex challenges—such as workload migrations or multi-site deployments—you will help drive operational efficiency and excellence throughout the organisation. Your ability to identify areas for process improvement will be crucial as you work towards optimising service delivery models. In this highly visible position, your leadership will ensure that all teams remain aligned with strategic goals while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

  • Oversee the operation of public cloud services to ensure world-class service performance and management across all assigned teams.
  • Deliver new demand for group, cloud, and business unit capabilities on time and in full, maintaining alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Ensure all public cloud technologies comply with audit standards as part of ongoing group cloud operations.
  • Collaborate closely with group technology risk teams to guarantee adherence to security requirements and standards within the Philippines site.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, align, and synergise business strategies with group technology partners for enhanced operational outcomes.
  • Manage team rostering to provide adequate coverage for service hours, including after-hours on-call support and 24/7 shifts for teams based in the Philippines.
  • Act as the primary escalation point during incidents and other critical operational activities, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Grow and develop the team’s capabilities to deliver optimised public cloud services focused on continual service improvement.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of audit and regulatory compliance across all aspects of cloud operations.
  • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders—including local business units, risk, audit, IT, corporate security, human resources—and key vendors such as Microsoft, AWS, AliCloud, IBM, and BT.

What you bring:

To excel as Associate Director for Cloud Operations, you will bring extensive hands-on experience managing complex public cloud environments within large enterprises. Your background should include significant exposure to multi-site deployments, workload migrations, and regulatory compliance frameworks. A proven ability to navigate decentralised organisational structures—where influencing outcomes is just as important as direct oversight—will set you apart. Your interpersonal skills must be finely tuned; you’ll need to communicate clearly with senior leaders as well as technical staff while nurturing productive partnerships with global technology vendors. Professional certifications from leading providers like Microsoft Azure or AWS will underscore your technical credibility. Additionally, your analytical mindset will enable you to assess evolving business needs quickly while proposing practical solutions that enhance operational efficiency. Experience within the life insurance sector or similar regulated industries would further strengthen your candidacy by providing valuable context around industry-specific challenges.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in cloud or platform management roles within large-scale enterprise environments is essential for success in this position.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior capacity involving cloud architecture responsibilities is required to effectively lead technical teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing public cloud solutions—including workload migration—in multi-site enterprise settings is vital.
  • Professional certifications related to major public cloud platforms (such as Microsoft Azure or AWS) are highly desirable to validate your technical proficiency.
  • Proven track record managing enterprise-level public cloud services with a focus on service optimisation is expected.
  • Experience working within decentralised organisations—preferably at group level where delivery is achieved through influence rather than direct control—is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with life insurance industry practices within regional or multinational contexts would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT operating model design principles and best practices is important for aligning operational strategies with organisational goals.
  • Exceptional analytical skills combined with excellent written and verbal communication abilities are necessary for engaging stakeholders at all levels effectively.
  • A collaborative approach that fosters cooperative working relationships internally and externally is essential for building trust across diverse teams.
