What you'll do:

As a Senior Systems Administrator based in Ortigas, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all computer systems and network infrastructure within the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve not only maintaining existing systems but also proactively identifying areas for improvement through research and development. You will work closely with IT leadership to plan upgrades or new implementations that align with strategic goals.   • Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualisation platforms to support business continuity.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software while managing virtual servers and integrating automation processes to streamline operations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritising issues, and assessing their impact on business functions.
  • Provide comprehensive documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure projects.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations while implementing effective data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures to safeguard critical information.
  • Provision system resources such as server, storage, and network components with appropriate approvals from IT leadership to meet organisational needs.
  • Set up and manage external connectivity solutions including site-to-site VPN connections to ensure secure communication between locations.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT professionals to develop best practices for helpdesk operations, security protocols, storage management, data protection, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor network performance using tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, or Prometheus to proactively identify potential issues before they affect users.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at continuously improving IT services in line with evolving business requirements.

To excel as a Senior Systems Administrator in this organisation based in Ortigas, you will bring substantial hands-on experience managing both Linux-based (CentOS/Ubuntu/RHEL) and Windows-based environments at an enterprise level. Your background should include configuring virtualisation platforms like VMware as well as deploying robust backup solutions such as Veeam. Familiarity with advanced networking concepts—including VPN setup—and proficiency with monitoring tools like Zabbix or Nagios are essential. You should possess strong scripting abilities (Python/Perl) that enable you to automate repetitive tasks efficiently. A solid educational foundation—preferably a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field—will underpin your technical expertise. Certifications in Linux or Microsoft technologies would further strengthen your profile.   • Extensive experience administering VMware environments as well as Linux distributions (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) alongside Windows operating systems including Active Directory Services (ADS), Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, DHCP, File Server, and Print Server functionalities.
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana or Prometheus to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing helpdesk workflows and implementing IT operations best practices covering security measures, storage solutions, data protection techniques, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Solid understanding of system security concepts including intrusion detection systems for safeguarding organisational assets.
  • Ability to create scripts using Python or Perl (or similar languages) for automating routine administrative tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting tools designed for process automation within enterprise environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NAS (Network Attached Storage), SAN (Storage Area Network), RAID configuration methodologies for efficient data management.
  • In-depth familiarity with backup technologies such as Veeam for reliable replication of critical information assets.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent qualification is required; relevant certifications in Linux or Microsoft technologies are highly desirable.
  • At least 3-5 years’ proven track record in database administration, network administration or system administration roles within medium-to-large organisations.
