What you'll do:
As a Senior Systems Administrator based in Ortigas, you will take ownership of maintaining the stability and efficiency of the organisation’s core IT infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve installing new hardware or software solutions, configuring virtual environments, automating routine tasks for greater efficiency, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. You will also play a key role in developing documentation for both current systems and future upgrades—ensuring that all changes are well-communicated within the team. Regularly performing backups and implementing disaster recovery plans will be essential parts of your remit. In addition to these technical duties, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure that IT services align with broader business objectives. - Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualisation platforms across the organisation.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software while managing virtual servers and integrating automation processes to streamline operations.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting issues and resolutions, prioritising problems based on impact, and ensuring minimal disruption to business activities.
- Provide comprehensive documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning new projects or upgrading existing IT infrastructure.
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations while implementing robust processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Provision system resources such as server, storage, and network components with appropriate approvals from senior IT management.
- Set up and manage external connectivity solutions including site-to-site VPN connections to support secure remote access and inter-office communication.
- Collaborate closely with other IT professionals to develop strategies for continuous improvement in line with evolving business needs.
- Monitor network performance using tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, or Prometheus to proactively identify potential issues before they affect users.
- Support the implementation of security measures including intrusion detection systems to safeguard organisational data.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Systems Administrator in this organisation’s Ortigas office, you will bring a wealth of hands-on experience managing diverse operating systems—including both Linux distributions like CentOS or Ubuntu as well as Windows-based environments. Your background should include significant exposure to virtualisation platforms such as VMware along with practical knowledge of network monitoring tools. You’ll have demonstrated success implementing robust backup solutions using technologies like Veeam while also being adept at scripting for process automation. A solid educational foundation—preferably at bachelor’s level—in computer science or related fields is essential. Your previous roles should reflect your ability to handle complex troubleshooting scenarios efficiently under pressure while communicating effectively across teams. Certifications in relevant areas will further strengthen your application but are not strictly required if you can demonstrate equivalent practical expertise.
- Demonstrated expertise in VMware virtualisation technologies as well as Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows operating systems including Active Directory Services (ADS), Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, DHCP, File Server, and Print Server management.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, or Prometheus for proactive system oversight.
- Comprehensive understanding of helpdesk operations best practices along with advanced knowledge of security protocols, storage solutions (NAS/SAN/RAID), data protection strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Perl for automation purposes alongside experience with relevant automation tools.
- In-depth knowledge of backup technologies including Veeam for replication and restoration processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent qualification is required.
- Three to five years’ proven experience in database administration, network administration or system administration roles within complex environments.
- A track record of developing effective IT strategies that align with organisational goals while demonstrating resourcefulness in problem-solving situations.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills enabling you to document technical information clearly for both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Relevant certifications in Linux or Microsoft system administration are highly regarded but not mandatory.
