An exciting opportunity awaits for a DevOps Engineer to join a pioneering start-up at the forefront of digital asset securities exchanges. This role offers you the chance to be part of a global infrastructure team, supporting the delivery of a cutting-edge software platform designed for institutional clients in the rapidly evolving fintech sector. You will play a pivotal role in shaping secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments, leveraging your expertise across AWS, Kubernetes, and automation tools. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where your communication skills and technical leadership will be valued as you collaborate with colleagues worldwide. With flexible working opportunities and exposure to both traditional finance and digital assets, this position provides a unique platform for professional growth within a regulated environment.
- Join a global infrastructure team delivering mission-critical systems for an innovative digital asset securities exchange, collaborating with professionals across multiple continents and time zones.
- Work in an environment that values flexibility, knowledge sharing, and supportive leadership, offering you the chance to contribute to both process improvement and hands-on technical operations.
- Be part of a forward-thinking company bridging traditional finance and blockchain technology, providing exposure to the latest advancements in tokenisation, DLT, and Web3.0 within a regulated setting.
What you'll do:
As a DevOps Engineer in this role, you will immerse yourself in the daily operations of building resilient cloud-based platforms tailored for institutional digital asset trading. Your day-to-day activities will involve deploying applications into AWS EKS clusters using Kubernetes manifests while ensuring all network routing policies are optimised for performance and security. You will take ownership of Linux system administration tasks—ranging from routine maintenance to advanced security measures—while also automating deployments through scripting languages like Bash or Python. Monitoring estate health via Grafana/Prometheus will be second nature as you proactively address issues before they impact service delivery. Working hand-in-hand with developers across different geographies means your collaborative spirit will shine as you help integrate CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins. By partnering with QA teams on automated testing initiatives and supporting DBAs with infrastructure automation projects, you’ll ensure seamless operations throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Your ability to adapt quickly within agile frameworks such as SCRUM or Kanban will further enable you to thrive in this dynamic environment.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Amazon AWS to support critical business applications.
- Deploy applications using command line tools and Kubernetes manifests within AWS EKS clusters, ensuring robust ingress/egress routing policies are established.
- Administer Linux systems by performing regular maintenance, optimisation, and security hardening of both containers and pipelines.
- Automate deployment processes while monitoring and maintaining cloud infrastructure through advanced alerting systems such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Operate Jenkins servers and build agents efficiently by managing webhooks, scheduled jobs, node tainting, executor control, and continuous integration pipelines.
- Develop scripts in Bash, Groovy, Jenkinsfile, and Python to streamline operational tasks and enhance system reliability.
- Utilise Ansible and Terraform for provisioning and configuring infrastructure components across nonproduction and production environments.
- Collaborate closely with development teams—both local and multinational—to support the full software development lifecycle from code integration to automated testing.
- Work alongside QA engineers and SDETs to facilitate automated testing frameworks that ensure high-quality releases.
- Support database administrators by automating infrastructure tasks and participating in disruptive testing during scheduled windows.
What you bring:
To excel as a DevOps Engineer in this position, your extensive background in designing robust cloud architectures on AWS will be invaluable. Your deep understanding of Kubernetes orchestration within EKS clusters ensures seamless application deployment while maintaining stringent security standards. You bring strong Linux administration capabilities that allow you to optimise system performance across distributed environments. Your scripting abilities—whether in Bash or Python—enable you to automate repetitive tasks efficiently while contributing to overall process improvement. Experience managing Jenkins servers empowers you to streamline CI/CD workflows that underpin rapid yet reliable software releases. Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform allows you to provision resources consistently across various stages of development. Your collaborative approach shines when working alongside global development teams under agile frameworks; you understand how vital it is to communicate clearly at all levels of the business. Exposure to regulated financial settings gives you insight into compliance requirements unique to this industry segment. Finally, your adaptability enables you to thrive amid the fast-evolving landscape of digital assets while supporting colleagues during disruptive testing cycles.
- A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in DevOps roles with proven success delivering scalable solutions on AWS cloud services.
- Demonstrated proficiency deploying applications using Kubernetes manifests within AWS EKS clusters while implementing complex routing policies.
- Extensive background in Linux administration including system optimisation, container security, and pipeline protection measures.
- Hands-on experience automating deployments using Jenkins (including Jenkinsfile), Docker containers, Bash/Groovy/Python scripting languages.
- Proven track record operating monitoring tools such as Grafana/Prometheus for real-time estate health checks and alerting mechanisms.
- Advanced skills coding with Ansible/Terraform for infrastructure provisioning across diverse environments (nonproduction/production).
- Familiarity working within Agile methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban) alongside cross-functional development teams spanning multiple countries.
- Experience supporting CI/CD lifecycles from code integration through automated testing in collaboration with QA engineers/SDETs.
- Background working with database administrators on infrastructure automation projects as well as facilitating disruptive testing sessions.
- Previous exposure to regulated financial firms—ideally involving real-time trading systems or market data—and early-stage start-up environments.
