What you'll do:

As a Senior Observability Engineer based in Makati, you will become an integral member of the Monitoring and Analytics Team responsible for shaping the future of IT infrastructure monitoring within a global financial services organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design advanced observability frameworks using state-of-the-art technologies like Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, OTEL Collectors, Ansible, Terraform, and more. • Design, build, secure, maintain, optimise, and document observability solutions utilising Elastic Cloud Stack and AWS-managed Prometheus to ensure robust monitoring of enterprise systems.
• Collaborate closely with application owners, engineers, and development teams to gather requirements and architect tailored Elasticsearch Stack solutions that enhance system performance and operational efficiency.
• Develop and configure ETL data pipelines using Elastic Common Schema for onboarding application logs and metrics from diverse sources across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Configure index templates and manage data lifecycle policies (ILM) to ensure effective data retention strategies aligned with business needs.
• Create automated deployment processes for Beat agents using Ansible playbooks across both on-premises infrastructure and AWS systems; leverage Terraform to safely manage production infrastructure following Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Implement Elastic alerting solutions via Watcher and Kibana Alerts integrated with ticketing tools such as MS Teams to provide timely notifications for critical events.
• Develop machine learning jobs within the Elastic Stack to dynamically monitor key metrics and KPIs, enabling proactive detection of anomalies or issues.
• Build AI-driven observability solutions leveraging Elastic and AWS tools that empower engineering teams to address production challenges efficiently.
• Participate actively in agile sprint meetings, collaborative group sessions, and regular progress updates to ensure alignment with organisational objectives throughout solution development lifecycles.
• Adhere strictly to established lifecycle processes for transitioning observability solutions from Development through QA into Production environments.

• Demonstrate hands-on experience with Elastic Cloud Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats), including installation tasks, cluster administration, data collection methodologies, network troubleshooting techniques, and system optimisation strategies.
• Show proficiency with AWS Managed Prometheus along with other observability tools such as Grafana and AWS CloudWatch; possess practical knowledge of integrating these platforms into large-scale enterprise environments.
• Exhibit advanced scripting abilities in Python, Bash, PowerShell, Painless or similar languages used for automation of monitoring tasks or custom solution development.
• Display deep understanding of ELK Stack components including Machine Learning modules (APM/X-Pack), REST API integration methods for enhanced interoperability between systems.
• Possess proven skills in evaluating/tuning Elastic clusters—covering configurations for indexing/search performance/security/administration—and managing security integrations (Windows SAML/LDAP/Kerberos).
• Have experience designing/configuring ETL pipelines using Elastic Common Schema for efficient onboarding/logging/metrics management across distributed systems.
• Be adept at implementing Infrastructure as Code principles using Ansible/Terraform within AWS environments to automate deployment/management processes safely/effectively.
• Demonstrate ability to integrate alerting mechanisms (Watcher/Kibana Alerts) with third-party ticketing tools/MS Teams for streamlined incident management workflows.
• Bring familiarity with containerisation/orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes/Docker/Lambda plus experience deploying observability AI agents/frameworks supporting automated analysis/proactive resolution.
