I am the call that starts new beginnings

Gian was not actively looking to change jobs, but he accepted an opportunity extended by Robert Walters. With a strong background on recruitment and partnerships, he was able to acclimate quickly into the company, becoming a valued Recruitment Consultant today.

Gian recounts his journey below

After completing my Bachelor’s in Management Economics from Ateneo de Manila, I immediately worked in companies for roles focusing on recruitment and partnership. When Robert Walters offered the opportunity to be a recruitment consultant, I said yes after considering the potential of the role. The interview process was conversational; the managers were able to explain the expectations of the role. The people were patient and motivated in guiding me to the role that is focused on HR.

Among the skills that I developed before joining Robert Walters, I want to emphasise communication skills, stress management, and time management as a priority to continue honing. We map our days to ensure that we are maximising our time between communicating with clients and candidates. I also aspire to build meaningful relationships with the professionals I interact with extending beyond being transactional. Until now, I still have regular contact with the candidates that I placed months ago.

My time with Robert Walter has been instrumental in my professional and personal growth. Primarily, I’m able to build strong connections and networks among the professionals that I meet. It’s also a learning opportunity since I gain first-hand knowledge and insights that I wouldn’t normally receive outside my role. Because of this, I’m able to apply what I learned into how I perform as a Recruitment Consultant. I’m inspired to exert effort when I see the entire floor dedicated to closing deals between clients and candidates. 

You can go to any desk you want and then someone for help, and they'll help you. It's the kind of community where everyone lends a helping hand to others. You get a sense that everyone here wants you to succeed in your role. The workload can be exhausting, but the environment and the people make the stress more manageable to carry.

“Since you work with different people, you get to deal with problems differently. It encourages you to be creative. This is the situation now. How can I get around it? How can I fix this? It's very stimulating in that sense, and I'm happy with this line of work"
